  • Product Details

In 2006, BMP and the China Geological Research Institute teamed up to tackle geological disasters by creating innovative tecco wire mesh products. BMP combined expertise led to flexible, high-performance solutions for rockfall mitigation.

Tecco Wire Mesh

Pioneering Rockfall Nets in China

Early in their collaboration, they focused on mitigating rockfall impacts. By 2008, BMP had innovated rockfall nets specifically for the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau to prevent landslides, demonstrating the system’s effectiveness in the rainy season.

Advancing the TECCO System

Following their initial success, the partnership furthered the development of the TECCO wire mesh system. Starting with high-strength steel wire, they introduced the finer DELTAX nets and the durable SPIDER cable nets, marking advancements in rockfall protection technology.

A Comprehensive Solution for Rockfall Protection

The collaboration between BMP and the China Geological Research Institute resulted in a one-stop solution for rockfall protection, showcasing a shared commitment to technological progress and innovation in geological disaster prevention. This partnership offers a thorough and effective approach to safeguarding against geological hazards.

Key Features Explained Simply

Stronger Steel Wire

Regular mild steel wire strength ranges from 350-550N/mm2. BMP products use stronger steel wire, at least 1,770N/mm2 for their standard items and 1,650N/mm2 for stainless steel meshes. This strong wire means you can use thinner wire for the same strength as regular steel, or make even stronger meshes with the same thickness.

Stays in Shape Under Pressure

The special wire and mesh design let tecco wire mesh carry weight without stretching much. This means they don’t get longer under weight, making it easier to share the load with rock bolts or Soil Nails. Geobrugg meshes stretch only about 6-7% under their max strength, while regular steel meshes can stretch 12-20%.

Lighter Weight

Thanks to the high-strength steel, Geobrugg meshes need less steel per square meter compared to regular steel meshes. For example, a roll of DELTAX mesh that can handle 53kN/m weighs only 79kg for a 3.9m x 30m size. A similar strength mild steel mesh roll is about 80kg but smaller in size, at 2m x 25m.

Corrosion Protection for BMP Tecco Wire Mesh

BMP Tecco Wire Mesh uses special coatings to keep it strong against wear and rust. These coatings, called SUPERCOATING® and ULTRACOATING®, add extra metals to zinc to make the protection better.

SUPERCOATING® goes on the 3mm and 4mm Tecco products and the SPIDER® System. It’s a mix of 95% Zinc and 5% Aluminium. The Aluminium makes the wire’s surface smoother, which helps it resist rust better.

ULTRACOATING® is for the 2mm Tecco and the DELTAX® products. It blends Zinc & Aluminium with extra stuff that stops rust.

Both SUPERCOATING® and ULTRACOATING® can keep the wire mesh safe for up to 120 years, depending on where it’s used.

We don’t use plastic-like PVC coatings on our standard High Tensile Steel Meshes. They can get damaged easily during handling or putting them in place. This kind of damage, especially where the mesh touches other parts like wire ropes or under bearing plates, can cause problems.

But here’s the good part: SUPERCOATING® and ULTRACOATING® can fix themselves if they get scratched. If the coating gets a scratch, the zinc reacts to protect the wire again.

To make the DELTAX®, Tecco®, and SPIDER® even stronger, we double draw the wire. This makes the galvanizing even all over and thicker. By adding the coating to a thicker wire first and then making the wire thinner without taking off the coating, we get a really even layer of protection.

Accessories for the BMP Tecco System

The BMP Tecco System is built to make sure all its parts work well together, sharing the load across the whole system. The Tecco Mesh, Spike Plates, and Tecco clips T2 & T3 all come together to create a solid solution for covering slopes. We’ve put a lot of work into designing, testing, and getting approval for the BMP Tecco System, and it meets European Technical standards.

Compositions

BMP’s tecco wire mesh series includes two specially designed products for the retention of weathered rock or soil. These products, TECCO® GREEN (G65/3 tecco wire mesh ) and GREENAX®, combine a three-dimensional polypropylene erosion control mat with high-tensile steel wire mesh. This combined material is suitable for both temporary and permanent erosion control. These geocomposite materials can be used on slopes, embankments, and cuttings, especially in areas where vegetation growth is desired. The three-dimensional erosion control mat provides an ideal environment for plants to grow, even in harsh climatic conditions.

TECCO® GREEN and GREENAX® blend well into nature and adapt to the topography of the slope. The three-dimensional erosion control mat offers immediate protection from erosion, allowing plants to grow quickly. Seeding of the slope can be done before or after installing these meshes. Both TECCO® GREEN and GREENAX® are supplied in Curry Green to minimize visual impact on the surrounding environment; they blend well with most landscapes. The integrated erosion control mat contains UV stabilizers, making it durable even when exposed outdoors.

Key Features Tecco Wire Mesh

Quick to Put Up

  • Installing TECCO® GREEN and GREENAX® saves time because you put up a mesh that stops erosion and a mat that helps plants grow all at once.
  • Normally, you’d need to attach a separate mat to the slope with pins. But with these combined products, the heavy steel in them shapes the mat to the slope easily.

Looks Natural

  • The Curry Green mat looks like a slope with plants right after you put it in.
  • Unlike the usual black products, TECCO® GREEN and GREENAX® look better and less noticeable in big areas. They’re ready for adding hydro-seed or soil on top.

Safer to Install

  • With these combined products, you can put up a system that controls erosion and strengthens the slope’s face at the same time, without needing to climb on the slope.
  • You attach it at the top to a rope or in a trench, then roll the mesh down. If you need pins or bolts/nails in the soil, using these products cuts the installation time in half compared to doing two separate layers.

Tecco Wire Mesh

Conclusion tecco wire mesh

In conclusion, TECCO wire mesh makes protecting slopes from erosion and promoting plant growth much easier and faster. With its smart design that combines strong steel and a mat for plants, it saves a lot of time during installation and looks good in the environment too. Plus, it’s a safer choice for workers since it reduces the time they need to spend on the slope. TECCO wire mesh offers a great solution for keeping slopes stable and green.
